Gratitude Book Project

THE GRATITUDE BOOK PROJECT: International Book Project Has More Than 300 People Sharing Their Stories of Gratitude, with National Book Sale Proceeds Benefiting Three Charitable Organizations

Doug Jarvie is a co-author in the 2013 edition of The Gratitude Book Project: Celebrating 365 Days of Gratitude, a collaborative book sold on and featuring over 300 authors answering the question “What are you grateful for?” in 200 words or less.

The book features true stories of appreciation such as:
• The development of interactive art therapy while recovering from a stroke
• The recognition of clerks and service workers we engage with every day
• The story that Groundhog Day is a reminder that spring is always just around the corner
• The expired passport that lead to a vacation for a grandmother and grandson
• The accidental injury that causes life’s stress to be set aside and replaced with appreciation for today
• The avid photographer who retired to travel and photograph medical operations in remote clinics
• The funny bone that tells us to “Lighten up” and sends its energy to tickle the heart

And 358 more stories of stopping to say “thank you” to the good in life—and the “not so good” that makes us wiser and stronger.
Doug’s contribution to the book centers around gratitude for the changing seasons. Imagine the feelings brought out by the first snow fall of winter, and the first green sprouts of the spring flowers. Recall the sounds of a summer rain or the frogs and crickets on a warm fall evening.
This book is an ideal gift that creates gratitude every day of the year, not only for the one who receives it, but also for those who benefit from the help of the following organizations.
In keeping with the spirit of the project, proceeds from national book sales will be split among three charitable organizations: Feeding America, the ASPCA and Women for Women International.
